Goals, Goals

I have successfully been treating patients in Toronto since 2009. My goal is to help patients overcome their unique health obstacles and educate them on how to integrate new health habits into their modern lifestyles for sustainable benefits. I want my clients to thrive, not just survive.

A Little History

I became a naturopathic doctor because for me, it simply made the most sense.  While completing a science degree at McMaster University, I considered entering medicine, but something didn’t quite fit.  As much as I loved the health sciences, I also grew up in a home that valued traditional remedies, and eating garden-fresh foods as a basis for good health. By some luck, I was introduced to naturopathic medicine in a university research class and had one of those “lightbulb moments” where I immediately knew that this was the career path I was meant to pursue. Naturopathic medicine is the perfect marriage between science-based therapies from conventional medicine and traditional and alternative modalities. Together these create a system of medicine that really understands the function of the body as a whole, treats the root cause and provides sustainable results.

My Journey

My personal health journey has further inspired my passion for naturopathic medicine.  Digestion has been my weakest link since university. At McMaster, I stressed myself out emotionally and mentally, l would stay up excessively late to study, and I ate my feelings (typically an abundance of chocolate and coffee at that time).  The effects of these behaviours snowballed and followed me into my time at naturopathic college. I developed food sensitivities (gluten is still my worst enemy) and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS); I taxed my adrenal glands (stress glands) and felt like I was often on an emotional rollercoaster, all of which made my digestion worse. Thankfully, my growing knowledge as a budding ND helped me recognize what was going on and begin to address it. This journey of healing myself has inspired my focus in helping others optimized digestion, stress management, energy and mood.
